BASEMENT FLOOD RECONSTRUCTION · LAVAL & MONTRÉAL

Bring your basement back as a finished, functional space.

After cleanup and drying, reconstruction should bring walls, floors, trim and finishes back together as one coordinated project.

Roume Construction rebuilds residential basements after flooding once the source has been corrected and required cleanup, drying or remediation is complete. We assess removed areas, visible substrates and transitions into retained surfaces before closing and finishing the space. Explore our related service for Basement Renovations & Finishing.

AT A GLANCE

Basement flood reconstruction starts after the source has been corrected and required cleanup, drying or remediation is complete. Roume Construction can then rebuild lower walls, insulation, drywall, flooring, trim, doors and paint in Laval and Montréal based on the areas actually affected.

01READY TO REBUILD

Confirm the basement is ready to be closed again.

Reconstruction starts after the flood source has been corrected and required cleanup, drying or remediation is complete. We do not close an assembly that still has an active moisture problem. Explore our related service for Post-Water-Damage Reconstruction.

02LOWER WALLS

Rebuild cut or removed areas as a coherent wall system.

Flood cleanup often removes the lower portion of drywall, insulation and trim. We review cut heights, corners, joints and retained surfaces so transitions can be planned properly.

03FRAMING

Review what is visible before it is covered.

When framing is exposed, visible conditions can affect scope. Any additional repair that is required should be identified before insulation and drywall return.

04INSULATION

Restore opened assemblies where required.

Exterior walls and other opened assemblies may need replacement insulation before closure. Type and extent depend on the existing construction and what was removed. Explore our related service for Post-Water-Damage Reconstruction.

05DRYWALL

Create clean transitions into retained walls.

New board placement, joints, corners and transitions are planned to create a consistent surface instead of an obvious repair line around the basement. Explore our related service for Flooring Installation, Sanding & Refinishing.

06FLOOR BASE

Check the substrate before installing the new finish.

Removing flooring can expose adhesive, uneven areas, cracks or transitions. Required preparation and levelling are defined before the new finish is installed.

07NEW FLOORING

Choose a finish that works with the basement and substrate.

Flooring selection considers substrate condition, transitions, adjacent rooms and the desired finish level. Installation is coordinated with wall and trim work.

08DOORS & TRIM

Restore the details removed during cleanup.

Baseboards, casings, doors and hardware are often affected or removed. Replacement or reinstallation is integrated with reconstruction of the surrounding surfaces. Explore our related service for Flooring Installation, Sanding & Refinishing.

09ELECTRICAL & SERVICES

Coordinate exposed elements before closure.

Receptacles, switches, lighting, electric baseboards and other accessible services need to be considered before walls are closed and finishes completed.

10PAINT

Unify new and retained areas.

Primer, preparation and paint are planned around the extent of new surfaces and required transitions so the basement returns to a consistent finished appearance. Explore our related service for Post-Water-Damage Reconstruction.

11WHOLE BASEMENT

Coordinate multiple rooms as one reconstruction project.

A flood can affect a family room, bedrooms, hallway, storage and mechanical areas. We organize work by area and sequence rather than creating disconnected repair jobs. Explore our related service for Flooring Installation, Sanding & Refinishing.

12PLAN THE REBUILD

Show us exactly what was removed.

Send photos of every room, lower walls, flooring and opened areas. Tell us the status of drying or remediation and add available documents so a preliminary reconstruction scope can be prepared.

PROJECT DETAILS

Basement Flood Reconstruction in Laval & Montréal

Your basement flooded. The cleanup is done. Now it needs to be rebuilt.

Drywall may have been cut away, insulation removed, flooring pulled up and baseboards discarded. Roume Construction rebuilds the basement once the cause has been corrected and drying or remediation is complete.

From flood damage back to a finished basement

Reconstruction can include lower walls, insulation, vapour barrier where applicable, drywall, plaster, walls and ceilings, subfloor repairs, concrete preparation, floor levelling, vinyl or laminate flooring, doors, closets, painting, laundry areas and bathroom repairs.

Drywall removed after the flood?

You do not always need to tear everything apart. Where appropriate, we reconstruct the affected portions and integrate the new work with the remaining finished space.

Basement flooring after water damage

Before new flooring goes down, we assess residue, cracks, localized repairs, levelling, underlayment, transitions and baseboards. Older Laval and Montréal basements are not always perfectly flat.

Framing, insulation & wall reconstruction

We can repair non-structural framing, rebuild walls and closets, and restore appropriate insulation and air/vapour-control components before closing the walls.

Basement laundry & bathroom areas

We reconstruct affected areas and can use the opportunity to improve an awkward laundry or storage setup where practical.

Do not rebuild problems you already had

An already-open basement can be the right time to correct poor storage, awkward laundry, uneven flooring, weak lighting or a modest layout issue.

Our work starts after drying

We are not an emergency flood-response company. Standing water, active infiltration, sewage contamination, wet materials or significant mould must be addressed before reconstruction.

Partial or full basement reconstruction

One room, lower drywall throughout, flooring only, or several affected areas: the scope should fit the problem. When damage is extensive, we can coordinate a larger reconstruction.

Insurance reconstruction

If an insurer or adjuster has prepared a scope, send it with your photos. We can review the reconstruction portion and identify additional upgrades separately.

What should you send us?

Overall and close-up photos, approximate dimensions, cause and date of the flood, materials removed, confirmation of drying/remediation, and available insurance or restoration documentation.

What can affect the scope?

Existing conditions, access, utilities, dimensions, finish selections and the amount of reconstruction required can all change the final scope.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Useful answers before you start.

What can this type of project include?

Scope depends on existing conditions. Roume can coordinate the preparation, reconstruction, installations and finishing included in the agreed project scope. Explore our related service for Post-Water-Damage Reconstruction.

How does the project start?

Start by describing the space, approximate size and current condition, then add photos in the Roume project planner. Explore our related service for Flooring Installation, Sanding & Refinishing.

Do you serve Laval and Montréal?

Yes. Roume Construction serves Laval, Montréal, Saint-Laurent, Nouveau-Bordeaux and surrounding areas depending on the project. Explore our related service for Basement Renovations & Finishing.

Do you provide pumping, drying or remediation?

This page covers interior reconstruction after those steps. Any specialized work still required should be completed before walls or floors are closed.

What happens if other problems are visible once the basement is open?

Visible conditions are documented before closure. If additional work is required, it should be defined and added to the scope before the area is covered. Explore our related service for Flooring Installation, Sanding & Refinishing.

How do I get a preliminary range for basement flood reconstruction?

Send photos of all affected areas, what was removed, drying status and relevant documents through the Roume Project Planner. This helps prepare a preliminary scope before an on-site assessment. Explore our related service for Basement Renovations & Finishing.
